I just had to try the
washer necklaces that I saw on
The Creative Crate last week. What really appeals to me is that the materials are really kind of
small and I could easily take them up with me to
girls camp in July. I wanted to try a few to see how they worked out. I got some washers, a piece of craft paper, Mod Podge, some beads and necklace rope.
I
glued the paper onto the washers with
Mod Podge. After they had dried I sanded the edges of the paper around the washer to get a nice
crisp edge.
I stuck a pencil into the center of the washer and rolled up a piece of sandpaper to get the middle smooth.
I used my varnish to top them off, but I wish I would have had
diamond glaze. I think that gives them a really polished neat look. I tied a bead onto one end and a loop on the other to connect the necklace.
I think it's going to be a really
fun project for the girls!

They turned out cute...I've never seen them with the craft paper on them. I've only seen them as a plain washer with the words stamped? onto them. I think the YW will like them!
ReplyDeleteThose are cute. Speaking of modge podge... I linked up a new project.
ReplyDeleteYay! It's Tuesday! Finally! I've been waiting since like, Wednesday :) I really liked Coretta's entry today--her daughter's magnet board. Thanks for making space for us to share! I linked mine up.
ReplyDeleteOh, I almost forgot :) Those necklaces are a SUPER great idea! It wasn't too long ago I was in YW and I would have really liked those! Especially with good paper--that makes all the difference.
ReplyDeleteHey again Andy, I know this is totally kind of lame of me, but I tried to share this link http://beckygreen.blogspot.com/2009/05/9-canvas-painting.html instead of the bedroom one... I'm kind of retarded. But thanks for commenting on the other one :) This Mr. Linky business is still kind of new to me.
ReplyDeleteGot the canvases from Joann Craft Store. Kind of over my budget... but so worth it :)
