10 Spot~USA Craft~

It's been a while since I've done a 10 Spot craft. For those of you who are wondering what the heck I'm talking about, I'm just going to share a spot where you can find the materials to make something for under $10.

Today's 10 Spot is Robert's Craft in Pleasant Grove, Ut. They are having a clearance sale and they are selling little 2.5''x2.5'' frames for $.75.  Their wooden letters are about a dollar and they also sell rustic stars and wire for a $1.49 a bag.  For the next couple of days they will have the coupon at the front of the store with the 50% off of one item.  I also bought 2 pieces of paper bringing my total to $9.55. That's without using the 50% off coupon, so you should be able to do it for about 9 bucks. This craft doesn't need too much explanation because of the simplicity, so I'll just give you a few quick instructions.
  • Paint the frames and the letters. Distress with sandpaper or rub Gel Stain on the edges.

  • Mod Podge paper onto the cardboard pieces that come with the frames.

  • Glue the letters onto the frames and add decorative rustic stars and wire.
Can't get much easier than that folks!
Tomorrow is Creative Cat's Tuesday so get ready to link up a project you've been working on!! Don't be shy!! It just won't be the same without you!!

~10 Spot~ Add pizazz to tab top curtains.

Want to add a little something to your tab top curtains without spending a lot of cash??? I did, so I went to our good ol' neighborhood Walmart and bought some supplies. I found everything I needed for around 10 bucks. 3 red circle placemats for $2.96 each. one yard of jute ribbon for $.67. 1 piece of felt with a sticker backing for $.80. The total was about $11.

The first thing you are going to want to do is to cut the jute ribbon into 3 equal pieces.
Next you will fold one of them over and sew it to the back of a placemat with coordinating thread.
After you have sewn all of your tabs you get to do the fun design part! I googled "silhouette designs"and found one that I thought would be pretty easy to duplicate. I drew the design on the back of the sticker and cut it out.
It's so great having a sticker that you can just peel and stick to the placemat.
"Easy breezy nice and cheesy" as my kiddos would say.
I couldn't get a decent picture of the curtains next to the window because of the light so I hung it on a shelf to give you an idea of what it looks like. I think they would also make a cute valance for a kitchen window.

10 Spot

So just a reminder....a 10 Spot is an idea that you can make for around 10 bucks. I wasn't out looking for a project like this, but this welcome sign was only $4.99 at DownEast Outfitters in Orem. It seemed like a good deal.
I think it looked really cute white, but I felt like doing something tonight since Joe isn't home and I can't sleep when he's not here. I pulled out two sheets of craft paper. I cut out squares that just covered the letters and then glued them on with Mod Podge.

After the glue had dried I trimmed around the letters and then rubbed the edges with sandpaper.
Total Cost:$6.25 (It may cost you a bit more if you don't have Mod Podge or Sandpaper).
Total Time: 56 min. That includes clean up and the time I had to stick the babe's bink back in when she was crying in bed.

And the winner is....

First of all thanks all of you for your wonderfully nice comments. You are all so great and I'm positive you have many more creative ideas than I do, so next time I have a giveaway I'm going to ask you to send me a picture of something that you've done! That way I can have a chance to compliment you.
OK, so now to announce the big winner.....It's Kim!!! Woohoo! I get to send the blocks to Georgia. So, send me your address my dear! My email is poppyginger@gmail.com.

I am really really serious when I say I would love to see some of the things all of you have done. I don't know how to do that fancy pants Mr. Linky stuff, but if you email me a link to your blog or just some pictures if you don't have a blog, I'd love to post it!! I decided to come up with a new category of posts called 10 spot The idea with 10 spot is to post decorations or gifts that you can make or do for around 10 dollars. For example, I just found out that there was a Provo Craft Outlet in Lindon! Why doesn't anyone tell me these things?? I was getting my haircut at Sassy's and couldn't resist going shopping afterwards. They change their products around a lot, so you never know what you are going to get. I found these candlesticks that look like flowers. The larger one was $5 and the smaller was around $4.
I also found these cute tin sign things for only $2!
Their craft paper is only $.15. The selection isn't huge, but it's a whole lot cheaper than most places. I bought some cute little paper flowers for $.25 each. I was able to paint the candlesticks and puts some craft paper and vinyl on the tin sign(you could also use stencils). Total cost=$11.65.
Sign alone=$2
Candlesticks=$9.50( I already had some little candles, but I bought them in a 4 pack at the dollar store).
If you would have found something you can make for around $10 and would like to share the wealth send me an email with 10 spot in the subject line. Make sure and include the spot where you found the supplies!

Cassie!! (of Cassie and Scott)! I'm so glad to hear from you! I haven't seen you in a million years!! I hope things are going well for you! Also I'm happy to find out that I know you Erin!!
