My SIL Sarah told me about a fun idea she had a couple of years ago. She gave wrapping paper and bows to her neighborhood friends along with a note that said something like, "Have fun wrapping up the season!". Along with being creative, she is also very thrifty!! She bought her rolls of wrapping paper the year before when all the stores were practically giving them away.
I'm not that great when it comes to thinking ahead, but I do LOVE the idea and thought it would make a perfect teacher gift this year. After all, who couldn't use a little extra wrapping paper...especially a busy teacher that hasn't had much time to prepare for the holidays.
It's also a gift that works well with any budget. You can buy a roll at the dollar store, or you can deck out the gift with tape, ribbons, bows and gift tags.
Make up some cute tags of your own, or feel free to grab mine!
Ties are pretty common Father's Day gifts, so why not add a tie holder into the mix?
As you know, I have an unhealthy obsession with shaker pegs and buy them in bulk.
If you are not quite so obsessed, I would suggest buying little hooks. It'd probably be cheaper.

If you like the look of Shaker pegs, you can find them at most hardware stores and I've seen them at Hobby Lobby. Hobby Lobby seemed to have the best prices.
The board I used an mdf board that was 26''X6'' and 3/4'' thick. You can buy 6'' boards at Home Depot and they will even cut them down to the right size for if you'd like.
I measured the center of the board to find where to place my first hole and then worked my way out.
I used 13 pegs. It really doesn't matter how many you stick on there,
but odd numbers are easier to center.
I put the pegs 2'' apart. Much closer than I would for a coat rack. I want to be able to stuff it full of ties.
Stick a little bit of wood glue on the back of the pegs before tapping them into place with a hammer or mallet. This will keep the pegs from slipping out over time. It's probably not as necessary with a tie rack since ties aren't heavy, so if you don't have wood glue, don't stress about it.
I find that folding my vinyl helps me to get it centered on the board.
The vinyl itself is 3.5'' X 21''.

Hey there everybody! We had a great 1000 rockin followers celebration last week! Thanks for entering for all the delicious giveaways! I loved getting a taste of your personalities! Just to be fair, I'd like to answer the questions I made you answer:
*Favorite dessert: I'm going to go with a good standby. Brownies and ice cream. I prefer the corner edge piece of a chewy fudge brownie. You also have to use a good brand of vanilla ice cream. No chocolate, hot fudge or anything on top. Just the sweet cold ice cream which makes the brownie a tiny bit chewier. Y.U.M.
*Favorite Movie: I don't really have a favorite, but I quite enjoyed"The Brothers Bloom". Quirky, different, fun.
*Favorite thing to do to relax: I'm teaching myself how to play the piano which is very relaxing, but I also enjoy reading and painting. I will sometimes try to relax by watching T.V., but I can't enjoy that unless the house is clean.
*My mother always taught me to...Enjoy life. Laugh a lot and that family is the most important thing on this planet.
* Least favorite household job: Mopping. The funny thing is that I don't actually mind mopping, but the anticipation of having to mop just about does me in. When I'm in the thick of it, it's really not bad at all.

I want to share with you some printable Halloween Gift Tags that I created last week. You can print them from this page, or download them first. If you want to pass around Halloween treats, but don't want to spend a ton of money, brown bag it! You can buy 50 sandwich bags for a buck. That's only $.02 each. Pair that with a free gift tag printed on card stock and you'll be in good shape!
I cut 9''x9'' boards out of mdf and routed the edges.
The Joe taught me an easy trick to find the center of square objects. Use a straight edge and trace from opposite corners. The center is where the line intersects.
I used a drill press to make holes for my pegs.
I dipped the end of the shaker pegs in wood glue and tapped them into place with a hammer.
I covered the peg with a cloth to protect the top of it.
To create the design I found the center of each side and taped center to center. After the paint dried, I took off the tape and taped in the other direction. I then sanded the edges and rubbed stain across the entire board.
Grab four routed mdf boards. Two big and two little. Whatever size you'd like!

Add vinyl lettering!
Use Mod Podge to attach colorful paper on the smaller boards.
One girly and one boyish...ly.
The best way to attach the smaller board to the larger is to put a little bit of wood glue on the back and then nail them into place with a pneumatic nail gun, coming in angled from the edge of the smaller board and then add whatever hooks grab your heartstrings.
Nail a picture hanger on the back, or pre-drill hanging holes.
Use them for keys, coats or towels! That's all folks!
Welcome to Creative Cats Tuesday!! I'm in such a good mood today!! I hope you are having a good morning too. The painting is going well. Yesterday I finished up the kitchen. Today I am taking a break from this:
I don't have the ladder confidence I need so I'm going to wait for Joe to help me set it up on the stairs. In the meantime why not have a little fun making gift bags! If you are like me you stock up on gift bags whenever you have a baby or birthdays. Once in a while you hit a lull and run out. It's not something that I ever think to buy. I was looking at a roll of wallpaper in my closet that happened to be next to the gift bag box and I thought to myself, "self, you could make that". It's super easy and wallpaper works great because it's stiff, but I'm sure you could use a big sheet of construction paper too. The best tutorial to use is an old gift bag.
Just undo the bottom of it to see how the folds work. Cut your paper with some sort of an edge for the top and roll it into a tube.
Stick a piece of packing tape on the inside of your fold and then squish the roll you've made flat. Invert the fold on the edges to create the side of your bag.
Fold the bottom of the bag the same way that you'll see on your pattern bag. It's really simple. Stick packing tape on the inside and the outside of the bottom to make sure it's nice and secure.Cut two matching pieces of twine and tape them to the inside of your bag.Embellish however you want to! I went simple by tying a chipboard number on the front.

I chopped my hair off for the summer time. I love having it short, except for the fact that you can't do the whole pony tail thing when you are in a hurry. I've decided that bobby pins are the short haired girls pony tail. I use them constantly. I thought I would make some cute hair pins for me and as a gift for my SIL birthday. If you want something to do that's super easy and relatively inexpensive-this is project is for you. Here are the materials you'll need. I got all my supplies at Walmart. Back in the fabric department they have really large buttons with cute designs. They are $2 for a set of 3. I found some hair pins that have a flat surface on the top $2.50 for a set of 6. You'll need to use epoxy to glue those suckers on. Anything else is just going to pop off. Use a toothpick to wipe the glue onto the pin. You don't want to get too much and glue the pin together. While the glue dried I stuck the clip back on the edge of the paper so that if some of the glue seeped out I could just rip the paper backing off. You'll have to look at your epoxy bottle to see how long you'll need to let them dry. Mine took 24 hrs, but the seem to be holding tight so far!
