Scrappy curtains...

What do you do when you don't have any money for window treatments?? Well, you have to get creative.  First of all, stop by Poppies at Play on Monday for a chance to win a free shade!! That will surely help.  And how about curtains?  I had a couple of flat sheets that I had purchased last year from Wal-Mart for $4 each.

Having one green and one blue, I decided to make paneled curtains. I folded the sheets into 4 equal parts.

Tear them into strips and alternate colors.

If you've taken sewing in junior high, this should be a simple project. As long as your sewing machine cooperates.

Buy some cheap-o curtain rods. What's the sense in making free curtains if you have to spend a lot on rods. I spent $1.50 for each rod at Target.

So, with a couple of flat sheets you can transform this window:

into this window:

Much more inviting and super dooper cheap!

For inexpensive accessories, buy a few circle place mats at Target for $1.50 each and tack them to the wall.

Don't forget to stop by on Monday for a chance to win a free shade from Redi Shade!

  1. Great idea Andy! :) Love your new window treatments!

ps have a great holiday weekend!

  2. Thats is such a great idea!! My Wal-Mart had the same sheets on sale for $3.00. I will be trying this. Quick question what is the name and brand of the wall color in the back ground? Love it Thanks

  3. Oh, gosh...those curtains are really cute! Great thrifty idea!

  4. The paint color is called Sand Motif by Behr. It's the paint and primer in one.

  5. Looks great! I love the color combo. I really need a sewing machine!

It's such a pleasure to hear from you! Thank you for taking a moment to comment. If you have a question, please leave me your email address! Thanks a million!
