I was lucky enough to find this
beauty of a chair the other day.
It was in
perfect shape all except for the
straw wrapped seat.
I
LOVE this
style of chair and would have given my left leg for a matching pair. OK,
maybe that's an exaggeration, but for sure a
toe. I still had to get the one because it was only $10! The paint job is beautiful and all I had to do to it was
rub it down with a
magic eraser! The seat definitely needed some TLC so I cut the straw off and Joe traced the wooden frame and
cut me out a matching seat. I bought a foam pad and
traced the shape of the seat onto it.
Next I
stapled the fabric onto the seat starting in the center of the back and then pulling the fabric tight to the opposite side. I then did the sides in the same way and
wrapped the corners. The first fabric I tried was a red print which I didn't end up liking very much and so I ended up using a print that I used on a shelf a few weeks ago because I really liked the
brown in it.
I'm a big fan of
chairs and I think it's really fun to collect a
variety of styles and shapes!
It looks great!! I love chairs too! I buy a lot of them... and sometimes I need to put them in the attic...
ReplyDeleteI think it looks awesome!
ReplyDeleteI love Empire chairs too! (Pottery Barn sells them as "Napoleon Chairs") I found TWO of them at a recent garage sale - $4 each! BIG score. (The wife was inside - The hubby sold them to me :-)
ReplyDeleteMine have rush seats and the same simple legs. I sure wish I knew where I could get two more!
Your update looks fabulous!
