Show your personality with your decor

Don't you love going into other peoples homes and seeing how they decorate? I really enjoy it. I just love seeing all the different styles and most of the time I want to run home and try something that they've done. It's really hard for me to pick one style for my home because I like so many different things that I want to try and incorporate EVERYTHING that I like. That can be a bit non-cohesive and distracting, even for me. I wish I could just make everything in my house look like it belongs together. I was thinking about that this morning a bit and I was wondering what people might think my personality is like if they just walked into my home without meeting me. I thought it might be fun to try and decorate with my favorite things...even if they aren't traditionally decorations. I thought that might show more of my personality. One of my favorite things right now is my rain boots collection. OK, so it's not really a collection, I only have 2 pair, but I want to turn it into a collection. I am usually not a shoe person, but I am really drawn to fun rain boots. I took all my decorations off of my table and shelf in my entry way and set my boots on the table and then just put things around them that I felt matched the feeling. It was a really fun thing to do. I guess even if people think that's dorky or tacky at least it is something I enjoy right?? Plus it's functional. I like to be able to use things that I decorate with because I feel like it adds to the storage space in my house. What kind of style do you like?? My husband is a big contemporary fan. I am drawn to more of a french country/shabby chic/traditional look so our styles don't really jive very well. At least he seem to be fine with whatever I do. Do you try and incorporate your spouses tastes into your decorating?

  1. In answer to your last question, do you incorporate your spouse's tastes into your decorating? That made me laugh just thinking about our apartment! Pretty much everything in there is MY decoration :) He has 1 drawing up on the wall in our living room, and his monstrous TV takes up a third of the room too. But other than that--the rest of the house is pretty much mine...Some things are joint efforts--like when we picked our computer desk. But almost NOTHING goes into my apartment without my near full approval. The TV is the exception. ...Men and their TVs.

  2. We have no decorating style. Thus I keep asking you to come to Georgia.
