I was antsy for a project yesterday and chose the kitchen island as my unsuspecting target.
I had a little bit of cash, so I ran to The Home Depot and picked up some primed mdf boards.
It was serendipitous that I also found some bead board scraps for $.51 each
I wanted to get as much of the project done as I could before The Joe got home and felt obligated to help. I cut the bead board into strips using the table saw and tacked them to the top of the island.
Then I made a paper pattern of what I wanted the supports to look like and cut 6 of them using the bandsaw.
That's when The Joe walked in the door and went to work cutting the angles of the shelves.
It's a good thing too! He's way more precise than I am.
We put 3 shelves together before we screwed them onto the island and then cut extra little pieces to put in between so it looked like the support board was one long piece underneath the shelf.

Chocolate. Anything Chocolate. Lots of anythings:)
I can relate, although all of this talk of cinnamon lips and bears is pushing me over the edge.
I'm going to have to pick up a bag.
Ready for a fun project?
Today we're making a Duct Tape Rosette Wreath!
I was watching TV the other day and a duck tape commercial came on.
It was showing all of the fun things you can do with duct tape.
They showed an image of duct tape roses made with duck tape squares
There are a handful of tutorials when it comes to this style of rose.
Click HERE for the one I think is the easiest to follow because of the pictures.
The flowers are really fun, and easy enough for older kids to do too!
My 8 and 9 year old kiddos spent all morning creating roses by themselves.
I played around with the Duct Tape because I wanted more of a rosette look.
Here's what I did.
Tear 6 to 8'' strips of red Duct Tape
ps...one roll isn't enough, buy 2.
Fold the strip 3/4 of the way over so you still have stickiness at the bottom.
Fold one edge over. This will be the END of your rosette.
Don't fold it all the way to the bottom. You still need the stickiness.
Start rolling on the other side.
It's just that easy!
It is time consuming to make a ton of these, but once you've made a few, you don't really have to watch what you are doing and you can make them while you are watching your favorite show.
To make a wreath form, trace a couple of bowls onto a foam board or cardboard.
Cut out the circles with a razor blade.
You'll want to either paint, or wrap your form with Duct Tape.
And the simply hot glue the rosettes to the form.
I actually only had one roll of Duct Tape, and you will need two.
That's why I'm trying to be sneaky by taking side shots.
It's not finished, but I wanted to show you anyhoo because I thought it would make a fun
