Some things are hard to ignore..

Take for instance this gynormous picture.
I don't know..It's just one of those things I couldn't walk away from. It's biggness is appealing and that picture is just insanely perfect for my newly finished basement....Alright so that's not entirely true. Actually it's not even a little bit true, but I did want to salvage the frame. I called the Joe and asked him to cut out a piece of sheet metal at work that we've had left over from Christmas last year. I took the picture apart and glued the sheet metal to the front of the picture...the glue question...I've been trying to figure out the best glue to use with different materials. I've heard everyone raving about E6000. I thought I'd give it a try, except for the fact that I didn't have any. I used this instead.Yup..good ol' Elmers. After I stuck them together I noticed on the back of the bottle that it said that the glue expands and you should use clamps....OH FOR CRYING OUT LOUD!! I hate that!! I just put chairs and all of my heaviest books on it over night and it seemed to be just fine.I got up early and dragged the kids over to Hobby Lobby to find myself some fabric for this sucker.I also had to stroll around the store..you know, just in case....and guess what I ran into?!? E6000!!! I used it for EVERYTHING else on my magnet board so I hope it lives up to it's reputation. I used a little spray adhesive to get my fabric on the metal and then I used E6000 to glue it to the back. I added some coordinating ribbon on the side for little bit of flare.I painted the frame with a chocolate brown along with some little rectangle wood pieces that I wanted to use for my magnets.I got excited to see how it all looked together and as I was sliding it into the frame some of the chocolate paint that hadn't dried from the back of the frame rubbed itself all over the front of my fabric!!! ARGHHHHH!!!!{{{{Clenched fist in the air!!}}}}}. I didn't want to give up on the project so I decided to make a plaque to cover up the mess. I(yes, all by my lonesome) used the table saw to cut out a piece of bead board. I antiqued it and made up a vinyl sign. Once again I used E6000 to glue it all together. I actually love how it turned out and I think it makes the board so much cuter!!Funny how things work out sometimes. I also added vinyl to my little magnet tags.
That's all for now folks!!! Have a great day!!

Thanks for stopping by to say hello. Hope to see you again!

By the way...do you use a cricut to cut your vinyl or do you have another machine? I'm in the market to buy one, but am undecided about which one. Any thoughts?

    Thanks ~ Amanda

  13. Man, you guys are too nice! To answer the vinyl question...We have our own machine that we use. We decided to spend quite a bit of money and get one that we can design whatever font or pictures that we want and it will print them without using discs. I see so many cute things with other more inexpensive machines that I sometimes wonder if we should have gone that route, but now that we have it I LOVE IT!! It's a Graphtec Cutting Plotter CE5000-60. Happy Crafting!!
